Astrologically speaking, Memphis aligned under all the correct angles last night as the CRB sent us out through a field of brilliant New Daises. The Brotherhood/Sisterhood that gathered in cosmic commune sent up smoke signals of the welcoming kind and by the time the shake and shimmy had settled, a big, waving Freak Flag was our own beautiful aftermath of concurrence.
The first set closed with maybe the biggest moment of our entire trip as a Tulsa > Cali Hymn > Jam > Got Love If You Want It pulled screams of glee and howls of joy from a crowd who came with one thing on their mind, to go up and come down a different breed of boogie than they entered. Behold The Seer is getting thicker and a little more stickier ever time it manifests itself from the ether, somewhere above the stage and definitely in the groove. Forever As The Moon was at it’s awesome ominous best and setup the second sets first big jam, soaring out of Blue Star Woman which has its wings now fully formed and freak functional. Silver Car was our sway with friends and closing with Ain’t Hiding > Shore Power > Rosalee pulled all its energy from the nearby muddy river and I’m sure reversed the flow for that 30 minutes of insanity. Tears, smiles and hugs surrounded as Mississippi Your On My Mind sent us all gliding into our different fates. But thanks to this band and this community it’s only temporary, as our bliss merchants doors are always open and welcoming. And bare feet are always the preferred footwear. So much love to this freak nation. You all know who you are, and where soon we’ll meet again. Freak ON brothers and sisters!!
