It was a scene of dreams in Jackson, Mississippi last night as both bare feet and open minds met to the sounds of a Friday night down home delta trip.
Our first sets folk vibe swelled with true classics and one modern day masterpiece after the next. Hands and spirits were held high through beautiful and faithful Brotherhood takes of Down The Line and Dylan’s Absolutely Sweet Marie. And when the switch flipped and the hips dipped for a three song set closing seamless run of Tulsa> Cali> Beggars, we found ourselves dancing in the Duling dirt and stepping through doors unlocked by the third eyes beaming bliss.
Behold The Seer, who’s groove is diving deeper with every take, opened things up after the Friday night break. The laid back lope of Wheel Don’t Roll setup a blistering 40 Days that asked “are you ready?!” We were ready and by the time the sets twists and turns carried us into a swirling and psychedelic Tumbleweed jam we were into the light and bathing in the dust land fairytales. Hog For You was a feast for the senses and just grew bigger and bigger with every verse and cycle. And how could we have known the treat that was coming for the encore? It only took a few notes before the collective gasps and subsequent sway erupted to the sweet sound of Wasted Days and Wasted Nights. We couldn’t have asked for more to cap an evening that none of us will soon forget.
All of our fellow star tripping travelers please move safe as you head West. Our Freaks For The Festival awaits with open arms and spaces as we gather to breathe in the hope and exhale the love.
