Lyrics

Forever As The Moon

Fine Sir John Got Far Beyond
And Laid Low One Wet September
It Was Then He Wrote
The Curse Of Her Pearls
For Which He Is Now Remembered
But Of Course It All Came To An End
By Early Next December
When Fine Sir John With All Reason Gone Faded Into His Winter

And The Wind Did Howl, And The Trees Did Bow
The Wolves All Cried On The Day He Died

I Survived Their Sugar Cures And I Dined With Snow Eating Sinners
So Much Weather Has Come & Gone As The Swine Roll In The Embers
Give My Regards To The Captain Of The Guards Who Has Lost His Saber
While In The Back Room The Boys Have It Large
While His Mistress She Sets The Table

And The Wine Will Spill And The Moon Will Shine
The Dream Is Gone And It’s About Time

Has It Always Been This Way
So Much Sorrow So Much Pain
From This Day Nothing Will Be The Same
Watch The Starboard Child
Walk Your Plank & Sink Away, Away

Anyway You Love We Know How You Feel

Let’s Open The Door To Tomorrow’s
Hidden Charms And Gaze In Wonder
Let The Music Play
Let The People Parade In Many Colors
As We Watch The Candle Burn
There Is Nothing We Have Learned
So Please Believe The Thunder
Where Evermore Is A Place Of Lore
And The Messenger He Just Shivers

And The Lights They Dim And The Masks Removed
And The Night Falls In Forever As The Moon

Anyway You Love We Know How You Feel
Anyway You Love We Know How You Feel

Down Home Girl

Lord I swear the perfume you wear
Was made out of turnip greens
And everytime I kiss you girl
It tastes like pork and beans
Even though you’re wearin’ them
Citified high heels
I can tell by your giant step
You been walkin’ through the cotton fields
Oh, you’re so down home girl
Everytime you monkey child
You take my breath away
And everytime you move like that
I gotta get down and pray
Don’t you know that dress of yours
Was made out of fiberglass
And everytime you move like that
I gotta go to Sunday mass
Oh, you’re so down home girl
Oh, you’re so down home girl
I’m gonna take you to the muddy river
And push you in
Just to watch the water roll on
Down your velvet skin
I’m gonna take you back to New Orleans
Down in Dixieland
I’m gonna watch you do the second line
With an umbrella in your hand
Oh, you’re so down home girl
I’m with ya baby
You’re so down home
Ow! Yeah, too much
Outta sight
You’re so down home girl

Shadow Cosmos

Behold A Kingdom Now In Ruin
The Castle Keep A Pile Of Stone
Sleep In Peace You Wild, Dark Riders
Let Your Hunger Bring You Home

Thought You Left It All Back Across The State Line
Something Followed You This Far
Police Report Reads Unlawful Entry
Or Did You Leave The Door Ajar

And That Old Night Watchman
He Could Get You What You Need
You Can Trust Him He Sees Everything
Just Don’t Be There When The Telephone Rings

Looser Is As Looser Does
And There’s No Winner Without Love
So We Keep On Tryin’
And When I’m Lonely I Think Of You
And How Your Kiss Can Ease My Blues
Can’t Keep From Crying

Let Love Take Wing
With All The Gifts It Brings
Sometimes It’s The Little Things
That Get You Through The Night

Workings Of Our Shadow Cosmos
Most Let Remain Unknown
Best To Know That There Are No Conclusions
Round & Round The Wheels They Roll
Coyote He Knows Everything
He Can Catch The Silver Fish
And Stay Dry From The Rain
But When His Mates Gone
He Feels Her Pain

Looser Is As Looser Does
And There’s No Winner Without Love
So We Keep On Tryin’
And When I’m Lonely I Think Of You
And How Your Kiss Can Ease My Blues
Can’t Keep From Crying
Looser Is As Looser Does
And There’s No Winner Without Love
So We Keep On Tryin’
And When I’m Lonely I Think Of You
And How Your Kiss Can Ease My Blues
Can’t Keep From Crying

Narcissus Soaking Wet

Sour Flowers Grow Ripe & Pink
Red Receives The Day To Nod Our Pollen Sleep
Thunder Born In Lighting Days
Natural Magic Mystic Ways
The Porous Stone Withstands The Waves
Let’s Get Inside

Narcissus Soaking Wet Lost But Doesn’t Know It Yet
He Has Failed To See His True Reality
Now He Will Remain A Ghost
Chained To What He Loves Most
Cast Away Under Pale Skies, Let’s Get Inside
Hey Baby Your Temple Or Mine

Untethered, Unbound
State Of Grace Sold By The Pound
If It Falls Let It Crumble To The Ground
Burn The Commune Down

How Soon We Forget The Time That We’ve Spent
It Comes At Great Expense, Expectations & Risk
Kiss The Dice & Let Them Roll
All Our Stories Have Been Told
One Million Times, One Million Ways It’s All The Same
Hey Baby You Know There Ain’t No Shame

Untethered, Unbound
State Of Grace Sold By The Pound
If It Falls Let It Crumble To The Ground
Burn The Commune Down
Burn The Commune Down

If There’s Something You Don’t Know
You Better Ask Somebody
If There’s Something That You Need
You Better Look Around
If It’s Love That Your After You Better Listen
If You Lived Here You’d Be Home By Now
You Say You Gonna Get Your Mess Together
Set Straight What You Tangled Up
And If You Think That’s Going To Be Easy
All I Have To Say Is You Shit Out Of Luck
I Mean Look All These Pieces You Got To Pick Up

Untethered, Unbound
State Of Grace Sold By The Pound
If It Falls Let It Crumble To The Ground
Burn The Commune Down
Untethered, Unbound
State Of Grace Sold By The Pound
If It Falls Let It Crumble To The Ground
Burn The Commune Down

Precious, Precious

Precious, precious.
Precious, precious.
Precious baby, you’re mine.
Mmm… if you don’t love me, I’m used to that.

If you don’t need me, baby, I can adjust to that.
If you don’t want me, honey, that’s alright.
If you ain’t willin’, baby, there sure won’t be no fight.
‘Cause I’m still satisfied

In loving you
And I’ll be waiting ’round when you get through.
Oh, you’re precious, honey.
You’re so precious.

Precious baby, you’re mine.
You’ve been in and out of my life
And, ooh, baby that hurts,
Baby, that hurts, yeah.

You’ve been with every girl in this town.
You’ve been dealin’ in dirt.
Just wallowin’ in dirt, yes you have.
But I look at love as a two-way street.

You get the good with the bad,
You take the bitter with the sweet.
Oh, you’re precious, honey.
You’re so precious, baby.

Precious baby, you’re mine.
Oooh-oooh, na, na, na, na, yeah, baby.
Oooh-oooh, na, na, na, na, yeah, baby.
Mmm… what people say about ya

Sure ain’t no fun
But what they don’t know about ya,
You’re like two men wrapped up in one.
We’ve got our life, so let’s make it.

It’s our chance, so come on, baby, let’s take it.
Oh, you’re precious, baby.
You’re so precious (precious).
Precious baby, you’re mine.

Yes, honey (precious).
You’re precious, baby.
Precious baby, you’re mine.
Ooh, you’re precious, baby, yeah (precious).

You’re so precious, yes, you are (precious).
Precious baby, you’re mine.
Oooh, you’re precious, honey (precious).
Oooh, you’re precious, baby (precious).

Precious baby, you’re mine.

Magic Carpet Ride

I like to dream, yes, yes
Right between the sound machine
On a cloud of sound I drift in the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far, flies near
To the stars away from here

Well, you don’t know what
We can find
Why don’t you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride

Well, you don’t know what
We can see
Why don’t you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy will set you free

Close your eyes girl
Look inside girl
Let the sound take you away

Last night I hold Aladdin’s lamp
So I wished that I could stay
Before the thing could answer me
Well, someone came and took the lamp away

I looked
Around
A lousy candle’s all I found

Well, you don’t know what
We can find
Why don’t you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride

Well, you don’t know what
We can see
Why don’t you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy will set you free

Close your eyes girl
Look inside girl
Let the sound take you away

Someday Past The Sunset

Well there’s something missing
But they won’t drag the river
God sends his children
Out into the streets
You can dig all you want
There’s no buried hatchets
Just bones on the table
Burn holes in the seat

And I’m growing weary
In the weight of these days

I’ve been down with dogs
I’ve been low with toads
I’ve walked down the road
The old hermit won’t go
And I’ve felt the Holy
In infinite spaces
And I read the names
While they all hid their faces

And I’m feeling weary
In the weight of these days
Yes I’m feeling weary
In the weight of these days

Will you meet me
Someday past the sunset
We’ll shine like chrome
With snow white angel wings
Will you meet
Someday past the sunset
Known by the known
The dreamers of this dream
And stitch by stitch
We work to tear the seam

One hand in the sky
One on the third rail
Your mind can’t be free
If your soul is in jail
So long live the chains
Set my iron free
And long live the king
When he’s dead like me

I’m feeling weary
In the weight Of these days

Will you meet me
Someday past the sunset
We’ll shine like chrome
With snow white angel wings
Will you meet
Someday past the sunset
Known by the known
The dreamers of this dream
And stitch by stitch
We work to tear the seam

Behind the door
Eye the stone
Listen to the voices
That won’t leave tou alone
Climb up the vine
That leads straight to your mind
Get lost in the jungle
Of your own space and time

Because I’m feeling lucky
In the weight of these days

New Cannonball Rag

Sweet Sister Asphalt Comes Cold Gold
Rock & Roll Left Her All Rags & Bones
She Don’t Talk Much
But She Rolls Her Own
Boogies All Night With The T-Rex On

Rock On, Roll On, Get Off, Get It On

Like Krishna Dances On Holy Toes
Like Smoke In The Wind
And Away We Blow
Comin’ In Hot Or Coolin’ Down Slow
Just Walk Through The Door
Because You Never Know

Be One, Be Two, Be All, Be You

Lilly Of The Alley
She’s Always Hummin’
Little Songs About The Stars In Her Eyes
Getting’ High And She’s Still Climbing
I Hope She Doesn’t Hit Her
Head On The Sky
Last Call For This Cannonball
You Know It Only Rolls One Way
So Mama Draw The Curtain
And Let’s Get Down
You’ve Always Been The Best
Show In Town
And Baby You Can Treat Me Kind
Anytime

Rock On, Roll On, Get Off, Get It On

Be One, Be Two, Be All, Be You

It's All Over Now, Baby Blue

You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last
But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast
Yonder stands your orphan with his gun
Crying like a fire in the sun
Look out the saints are comin’ through
And it’s all over now, baby blue

The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense
Take what you have gathered from coincidence
The empty-handed painter from your streets
Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets
This sky, too, is folding under you
And it’s all over now, baby blue

All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home
All your reindeer armies, are all going home
The lover who just walked out your door
Has taken all his blankets from the floor
The carpet, too, is moving under you
And it’s all over now, baby blue

Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you
Forget the dead you’ve left, they will not follow you
The vagabond who’s rapping at your door
Is standing in the clothes that you once wore
Strike another match, go start anew
And it’s all over now, baby blue

Ain't It Hard But Fair

Cats Cradle, Knots Tied
It Ain’t Funny Valentine
So Why You Laughin
Red Poppies, Black Eyes
I’ll Take Yours, You Have Mine
Call It Even
That Snake In The Grass
Is Now Up Your Sleeve
It’s Hard To Believe
That You Were Ever A Beginner
You Said Your Goodbyes
Without Batting An Eye
You Took The Salt
But Left The Flies Buzzing In The Window

Long Time Getting Gone Been Getting Gone So Long
Awake The Sleeper Said And Sing A New Song
Long Time Getting Gone Been Getting Gone So Long
Awake The Sleeper Said And Sing A New Song

In The Lapel Of His Jacket
She Pins A White Flower Of Despair
And Brushing Back
The Dirty Hair From His Eyes
She Says, Baby Ain’t It Hard But Fair
Gonna Have A Good Time When We Get There
Gonna Have A Good Time

Sky Mouthed Lotus Eyed Flash Of Fang
Can Hypnotize Any Old Heathen
Medicine And Man The Language Of Bliss
It’s Hard To Resist
The Lure Of The Golden Apple
Strung Out Angel Dirty Diamond Trip
Whatcha Call That On The Tip Of Your Lip
Is It Salvation
Cold Water & The Free Man
Spellbound Children With Outstretched Hands
Towards Their Masters

California Hymn

Are You A Suspect, Or Are You Clean
Are You Like Me Kinda In Between
Are You Holding, Are You Without
If You Live The Life There Can’t Be No Doubt
If Someone’s Listen Only Time Will Tell
As We Throw Poems Down The Wishing Well
Let My Children See My Dreams They Are Intertwined With Theirs It Seems

Glory Hallelujah It’s Time To Spread The News
Though My Good Words May Sound Profane To Some
You Sure Don’t Wanna Be Last When That Holy Spirit Gets Past
Round This Circle Like Electricity
Forever Roam, Welcome Back Home

If You Can’t See, I Can’t Show You
If You Can’t Feel, I Guess You’re Lost
If You Can’t Shine, I Can’t Find You
Before You Taste, You Better Know The Cost
If You Don’t Believe, We Still Love You
“To Each His Own” Is What The Drummer Said
Harmony And Heart Beat Rhythm
Let Your Cup Over Flow Again

Glory Hallelujah It’s Time To Spread The News
Though My Good Words May Sound Profane To Some
You Sure Don’t Wanna Be Last When That Holy Spirit Gets Past
Round This Circle Like Electricity
Forever Roam, Welcome Back Home

Let It Bleed

Well, we all need someone we can lean on
And if you want it, you can lean on me
Yeah, we all need someone we can lean on
And if you want it, you can lean on me

She said, my breasts, they will always be open
Baby, you can rest your weary head right on me
And there will always be a space in my parking lot
When you need a little coke and sympathy

Yeah we all need someone we can dream on
And if you want it baby, you can dream on me
Yeah, we all need someone we can cream on
Yeah and if you want to, you can cream on me

I was dreaming of a steel guitar engagement
When you drunk my health in scented jasmine tea
But you knifed me in my dirty filthy basement
With that jaded, faded, junky nurse oh what pleasant company, ha

Though, we all need someone we can feel on
Yeah and if you want it, you can feel on me, hey
Take my arm, take my leg
Oh baby don’t you take my head
Hoo

Yeah, we all need someone we can bleed on
Yeah but if you want it, well you can bleed on me
Yeah, we all need someone we can bleed on
Yeah yeah and if you want it baby why don’t ya
You can bleed on me
All over, hoo

Ah, get it on rider, hoo
Get it on rider
Get it on rider
You can bleed all over me, yeah
Get it on rider, hoo
Get it on rider, yeah
You can cream all over, you can come all over me, ah
Get it on rider ey
Let it out rider
Let it out rider
You can come all over me

Get it on rider
You can come all over me, yeah

Get it on rider

Betty’s Midwestern Magick Blends

Release Date : November 16, 2018
Artist : Chris Robinson Brotherhood
Format : Vinyl

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood is indisputably one of the hardest working bands in rock ‘n’ roll. 2018 marks the fourth year in a row that they’ll play over 200 shows across the U.S. and Europe. Through that prolific touring schedule, the band has emerged a razor sharp, riveting live unit. Each evening The CRB plays two sets of music with a dynamic, ever-changing setlist. Presenting original material stretching across six studio albums, plus a repertoire of covers that runs from Slim Harpo to Bob Dylan and beyond, it’s only fitting that the band would document this output. They’ve done exactly that through a series of live recordings dubbed, ‘Betty’s Blends’—taking its moniker from legendary Grateful Dead archivist and recording engineer Betty Cantor-Jackson who is called upon to capture The CRB’s performances in multi-dimensional, audio-verite.

‘Betty’s Midwestern Magick Blends,’ set for release on November 19, is the fourth volume from the acclaimed series, gathering highlights from three shows in Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago in October 2016. Available as a vinyl exclusive, 3-LP set with only 3500 copies released, the collection finds The CRB in peak form delivering highlights like “New Cannonball Rag,” (listen/share here) “Forever As The Moon” and “Shadow Cosmos,” as well as adapting two from The Rolling Stones: “Down Home Girl” and “Let It Bleed” and the seldom played fan favorite, Steppenwolf’s “Magic Carpet Ride.” The set is now available for pre-order at independent record stores.

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood is currently in the middle of a massive cross-country U.S. tour. Highlights along the way include two night stands at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC and Revolution Hall in Portland, OR, Variety Playhouse where Robinson grew up in Atlanta, GA and their first ever appearance at Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, NY. The CRB closes the year in customary fashion at their now annual three-night stand at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA.
